"My Doubts"
Jean-Paul VERNERET

And when the wind blows through my doubts,
I clench my fists, I won’t back out.
I’ve walked through cold, through silent nights,
Where dreams got lost beneath the whys.
I counted steps, not every scar,
Each fall just made me who I am.
I’ve known the cold, I’ve known the still,
Chased broken dreams against my will.
Dreams we hide beneath the sheets,
Like flames we’re scared to let complete.
But still I keep that spark inside,
A fire fear could never hide.
And though the night can feel unkind,
I know one day the sun will shine.
And when the wind blows through my doubts,
I clench my fists, I won’t back out.
I walked alone through storm and rain,
Heard all the world’s forgotten pain.
And when the dark tried pulling me down,
I found the breath to turn around.
I’ve known the cold, the sleepless haze,
Dreams crushed beneath a heavy fate.
Empty beds at morning’s call,
Yet I keep rising through it all.
But still I keep that spark inside,
A fire fear could never hide.
And though the night can feel unkind,
I know one day the sun will shine.
And when the wind blows through my doubts,
I clench my fists, I won’t back out.
Yeah, when the wind blows through my doubts,
I hold the line, I stay the route.
