The Star and the Cross
Jean-Paul VERNERET
1/3/2026
Verse 1
Eight knights arose from Eastern dust,
Before the Temple, swore their trust.
Poverty and vows of chastity,
Guarding pilgrims’ paths faithfully.
Iron monks with swords in prayer,
Their names struck fear through sunlit air.
Bridge
In silent halls of stone, they live,
Through vaulted roofs, their voices give.
Neither fire nor chains could break,
The sacred vow that they would make.
Beneath the seals, in starless night,
Their shadows ride where legends fight.
Chorus
Bear the crimson cross upon your white,
Ride to glory past the tombs of night.
Keepers of Jerusalem, kings of the West,
History drank your lives from the silver chest.
The Temple Order rises, earth to sky,
Under Saint Bernard’s eye, and Israel’s sigh.
Verse 2
Bankers to kings, builders of towns,
Their empire spread through Christian grounds.
Gold brought envy, power brought fear,
An iron king waited, drawing near.
On cursed Friday, dawn did break,
To throw the faithful into fate.
Bridge
In silent halls of stone, they live,
Through vaulted roofs, their voices give.
Neither fire nor chains could break,
The sacred vow that they would make.
Beneath the seals, in starless night,
Their shadows ride where legends fight.
Chorus
Bear the crimson cross upon your white,
Ride to glory past the tombs of night.
Keepers of Jerusalem, kings of the West,
History drank your lives from the silver chest.
The Temple Order rises, earth to sky,
Under Saint Bernard’s eye, and Israel’s sigh.
Verse 3
Accused of blasphemy and cold,
They denied idols, brave and bold.
On Paris Isle, flames danced around,
The last pyre burned, their faith unbound.
Jacques de Molay cursed those who betrayed,
Vowing vengeance from the pyre they made.
Bridge
In silent halls of stone, they live,
Through vaulted roofs, their voices give.
Neither fire nor chains could break,
The sacred vow that they would make.
Beneath the seals, in starless night,
Their shadows ride where legends fight.
Chorus
Bear the crimson cross upon your white,
Ride to glory past the tombs of night.
Keepers of Jerusalem, kings of the West,
History drank your lives from the silver chest.
The Temple Order rises, earth to sky,
Under Saint Bernard’s eye, and Israel’s sigh.
Outro
The treasure lost through ages gone,
Secrets rest beneath the stones long.
Templars of legend, ghosts through time,
Your cross survives, through endless rhyme.
Forever… forever…
