Album 31/ 7.There is only us left
There is Only Us Left
Jean-Paul VERNERET
1/5/2025
The light grows dim, the living room sleeps,
Silence is tracing the shape that you keep.
Time stops breathing—or slows in its flight,
We lose the world, we lose the night.
Lay your hand here, resting on my shoulder,
Let our two quiets gently grow bolder
Bridge
Let the night wrap around us like a coat,
Let the music slide soft down our throat.
Tomorrow will come with its questions and plans,
But tonight, we don’t need any reasons or plans.
Chorus
There’s only us left,
Lost in the dark,
Standing still, yet still we embark.
A voyage without moving,
A suspended space,
Our shadows drift slowly apart in this place.
Our hearts beat fragile,
Bare and untrue—
Like a dream we don’t know,
But we’re falling into.
We say nothing, words weigh far too much,
They’d shatter the glow of this delicate hush.
Your eyes are islands I long to reach,
To anchor my soul where the tides can’t breach.
And if all of this fades with the morning light,
I’ll keep your breath deep inside me tonight.
Bridge
Let the night wrap around us like a coat,
Let the music slide soft down our throat.
Tomorrow will come with its questions and plans,
But tonight, we don’t need any reasons or plans.
Chorus
There’s only us left,
Lost in the dark,
Standing still, yet still we embark.
A voyage without moving,
A suspended space,
Our shadows drift slowly apart in this place.
Our hearts beat fragile,
Bare and untrue—
Like a dream we don’t know,
But we’re falling into.
There’s only us left,
Even when light breaks through,
Holding on, still and deft,
To all that we knew.
And if the world pulls us apart
At the turn of a street, it’s true,
Somewhere we’ll keep in our heart
This moment suspended in blue.
