Album 36 / 8. My first circle

My First Circle

Jean-Paul Verneret

1/6/2026

Too many betrayals hiding under friendly smiles,

“Brothers” in disguise who fade out after miles.

I gave away my trust, I paid the final price,

Now I count the empty seats in my life twice.

I gave away my trust, now I see my mistake,

Time taught me slowly who is real and who is fake.

The masks all fell down, I learned every lesson,

I leave the bastards far behind, no second guessing.

There were too many false faces in my circle around,

And I read in their eyes the end of the sound.

In my first circle now only truth remains,

Only those who stay real when reality reigns.

I cut them out forever from my first inner ring,

Truth brought down the curtain on their whole staging.

They’ll never have a place again in my life,

They played their part once, now the scene ends the strife.

There were too many false faces in my circle around,

I leave the fools and the empty minds drowned.

I move straight ahead, never looking behind,

Their bitterness buried far out of my mind.

Far, far away, even further from my shore,

Let them choke on their rage forevermore.
